Good lighting, in a home or business, is one of those things that's invisible - if it's done well.
You only notice the lighting of a room if it's too bright or too dim, not if it's just right.
Our goal in offering services is to give you some sensible advice on how to light a room so effectively that no one notices whether you're using florescent or incandescent lights, track lighting or standing lamps.
They'll notice only that the room feels comfortable, and that
they want to come back again.

Selling Tips
| The Okanagan
Valley & Kelowna are experiencing one of the best markets in years for
selling real estate, with record-low interest rates and an economy that's
firmly in recovery. Still, even in the best of markets, it takes a lot more than just putting up a sign and vacuuming the living room to sell your home. The secret can lie in a complete home makeover and following other important home selling tips so you can get a great deal for your house. How do you decide what to spend your time and money on, and where you're better off holding back, in order to prepare your home for a sale? To find out some home decorating ideas to help you sell your house, we suggest working closely with a real estate expert. First, we asked the real estate agents what they think are the most important home decorating improvements a seller can do in a home makeover to prepare a property for sale, and they all agreed: Keeping the place immaculately
clean is very important.
Organize the closets, clear the kitchen countertops, remove
decorative magnets and the children's drawings off the refrigerator.
Periodically we'll suggest some furniture be removed to give a room a more
open, airy feeling.
If possible, plant flowers near the door, mulch existing
plants, trim shrubbery, and remove any dead plants or trees." A grand, expensive kitchen remodel in the same home will
probably not pay for itself and might possibly overprice the home for its
market when it's time to sell. The number of bathrooms in a home does dramatically influence the selling price, with each full bath adding about 24% to the selling price, so if you're considering adding a bath, this may be the time to do it.
While you're at it, take a good, honest look at the exterior paint of your house. Exterior color should also be considered, and it should not
distract from the style of the home and neighborhood." Watch out for the "over decorated" home. It is important that the decor reflect the character and style of the home. Store some art, paint and patch the walls, remove any
personal property that does not enhance the style of the home. By
incorporating this decorating tip you are attracting buyers and can
potentially sell your house for more money. The art of moving / re-moving objects and furniture to make the space feel as open and roomy as possible The home's exterior and entryway, is quite important Adding a pot of flowers to the front steps Healthy, well-tended, blooming flowers, replacing the doorknob. Washing down the front door and having the windows
professionally cleaned, is just one more of the many home decorating ideas
for selling your house for more money.

A couple of examples of a room & a furniture set
An Example of working a Large Bedroom
Let the sun shine in!
Is often what clients want for the bedroom.
If the bedroom is large, it can serve more than one function. The designer can
chose to use the bedroom as both a place for sleeping and as a sitting room. V
will work with you to utilize your existing furnishings or compliment what you
have with something new to accent and bring a new yet functional look and feel.
Another interior decorating guideline is the mood of the room.
The mood in some
cases requires bright and open. This can also be elegantly casual. Wood
trim on windows and doors can give a country feeling. The natural look can
compliment the beautiful natural views.
The country feeling can be counter-balanced by the elegance of the preponderance
of white in the room. Long white drapes, a white comforter and pillow
shams. All bring in a feeling that's more formal.
Clients often have a theme or look in mind. V loves to assist you fulfilling your ideas by giving you sensible & creative ways to accomplish your goal.
Sometimes all a client really needs is a few coordinated
accessories and some guidance on how to use or place the furnishings they have
already.
Q:
I just purchased a Florentine black bedroom furniture set
for my master bedroom. I am happy with it and thinking about using gray, white
and black in the bedroom.
My problem is I already have black leather couches for my living room. There is
a beige carpet throughout the whole apartment. I'm just wondering what other
colors are suggested to go in my living room if I have a black leather sofa and
loveseat. I wanted to do something vivid and alive in the living room,
especially because I live in Florida. Is it too late, as I already have the
black leather couches?
A: Not to worry. With a
little design sense, a little money, and a good eye, it's never too late to
redecorate.
Because you're in hotter climate in summer, you may be drawn to more "Floridian"
colors, such as pinks, pale greens, and turquoise or other blues. And any of
these – or a combination – could work with the black leather furniture.
Whatever other color you choose, start by thinking of the sofas as your base,
off of which you'll play the other colors. Whatever you pair with black will
create a striking look; it's just a matter of choosing the color that best
reflects your taste and creating a pleasing bedroom interior design.
Consider the wall color carefully. You could go for a look in which the
beige of the carpet predominates, and paint the walls a slightly darker
beige that verges on brown. Then, add accent pieces in various shades of
brown. This could create a sophisticated look, especially if you use
high-end linens and cottons. |
If you choose the beige-brown-black combination for your bedroom, consider
also the fabrics for the accents. A few throw pillows in a rough linen, or in
heavy unfinished cotton, silk-screened with African designs, will give more
depth to the room.
With this palette as your backdrop, you can add in a few splashes of color,
which will really call attention to themselves. Choose a line-up of red glass
vases, or add just two bright green throw pillows.
However, you may want to go with something more colorful, as the bedroom will
also feature the black furniture. You could paint the walls a bright Floridian
color, and add accents that reflect and complement that color. This will give
the room a decidedly more casual look than the beige and brown scheme.
In the bedroom, you could use fabrics in a toile design. One way to bring color
in would be to use a black and white toile for a chair seat, and a bed skirt in
the same pattern but in red and white. The red and white will work nicely with
the black bedroom furniture. Add red and white curtains in the same pattern, and
then offset these with a wide red and white stripe somewhere in the room.
If, by the time the black bedroom furniture is installed, you feel overwhelmed
by the black, you could undercut it by just going with a blue and white toile in
the bedroom, which would go nicely with the Florentine look of the furniture.
